My take on werewolf anatomy

Description

I just don't understand all the variations of werewolf design - none of them make sense! So here is my take on what they should look like, and why. Please excuse any anatomical errors, I wasn't trying to get them perfect, just convey a sense of an idea.

1. A wolf

2. A human

3. What I think werewolves should look like.

4. Pretty much wolf head on otherwise relatively human body. The only difference is in the feet. Somehow, it wouldn't seem likely that anything can walk like that. Looks like a furry, and I just don't like those.

5. The opposite of number 4, this is a human face glued onto a relatively wolf body. In my opinion 4 and 5 are as bad as each other.

6. Common wolf head I see that I don't like. Certainly, a wolf's head can be rather blockish, but this is bordering on ridiculous.

7. Hairy human. Apparently hairy humans can pass as wolves these days, although they look ridiculous.

8. This is the human equivalent of the position a wolf takes.

9. Now for my reasoning. I highly doubt that I creature that was part wolf part human could stand on two legs. That just doesn't seem feasible. So my werewolf is going to be something between the 1 and 8, probably more wolf than human, assuming that a human is turning into a 'wolf'. As far as I can see, complete bone realignment or bones disappearing altogether and growing back when the wolf turns back into a human would be entirely impossible, so the wolf would have to remain slightly human in stance. I'm not counting the skull here otherwise I'd have a very ugly werewolf. I also doubt that there could be much weight-gain or loss between human and wolf states, so unless the human was tiny, it's going to end up a huge werewolf.

And there. That is how and why I believe a werewolf should look.

fact: number 8 actually exists/ed! there have been many cases of people developing clinical lycanthropy and take it to so a high that they walk, run, eat, and overall just act like an animal! this is what gave rise to the early werewolf storys! that and animals atacking people in a way that makes it look like the person changed into an animal offscene. very good art bytw!
